The group talks about holiday season in Atlanta and clears up which holidays are for women and which are for men!   They run down the business headlines, CAPs happenings, and then turn their attention on the new Rooftop Garden at W Atlanta.

Beginning this winter, fresh herbs, select fruits, and vegetables will be home-grown in the Rooftop Garden and used in seasonal craft cocktails served at the property’s two bars: Drinkshop and the Living Room Lounge. The Rooftop Garden aims to incorporate a regional and southern harvest that will introduce guests to native plants and nurture a sustainable environment.

Good Morning Atlanta Celebrates 12-12-12 with World Trade Center Atlanta

Good Morning Atlanta Hosts Dana Barrett and Elizabeth Gordon are joined in the studio by Lilia Postolachi, the Director of international Services & Membership for World Trade Center Atlanta and her co-worker Catering Manager Miriam Demande.

The group focused on the relationship side of business, the meaning of 12-12-12 and also reviewed 2012 and looked forward into the new year at World Trade Center Atlanta.

 

Operation Hope CEO Jay Bailey Joins Dana and Elizabeth

Jay Bailey, the CEO of Operation HOPE in Atlanta joins Dana and Elizabeth to talk about the 20th anniversary of the organization and the recent Global Summit.

Operation HOPE is a non-profit that describes itself as the private banker for the working poor, the underclass and the struggling middle class. Their mission is ‘silver rights,’ which they define as making free enterprise and capitalism work for all.  Financial literacy is the tool, financial dignity is the goal and financial inclusion is the way.

Following the interview with Jay,  Dana and Elizabeth cover the local and national business news with their usual aplomb!

Hosts Elizabeth and Dana talk with Natalie Thomas about Cultivation Five

Co-hosts Elizabeth Gordon and Dana Barrett are joined with Natalie Thomas from Cultivation Five about the Fashion Rocks event and the first day of sales for her new company.  Cultivation Five is a signature T-shirt line that joins style, comfort and class with giving back to the community. GMA Gets Serious to Talk About Domestic Violence in the Workplace

Dana and Elizabeth tackle a topic no one wants to talk about as they are joined in the downtown studio by Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV) President and CEO Meagan Fulmer and PADV board member and Kaiser Permanente HR Exec Linda Boatright.

The conversation focused on the recent 2012 Domestic Violence in the Workplace Conference held in Atlanta and the effects that domestic violence has, not only on the emotional well being of employees, but also on the bottom line for companies.  Meagan and Linda shared some staggering statistics and discussed what is being done to both raise awareness and to try to eradicate the problem.  Here are some of the statistics that were discussed:

  • Domestic violence in the workplace results in 8 million missed workdays each year
  • Female victims have 20% higher healthcare premiums for 5 yrs following an incident
  • In Georgia, 74% of domestic violence victims murdered in 2010 worked full-time outside the home
  • 1 in every 4 women in the U.S. are affected by domestic violence during their lifetime

Downtown Development Day and the 20th Anniversary US-Russia Business Council Meeting Featured on GMA

Hosts Dana Barrett and Elizabeth Gordon were joined in studio by AJ Robinson and Wilma Sothern from Central Atlanta Progress and Wayne Lord, President of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta.  AJ and Wilma talked about Downtown Development Day which will be held on Wednesday November 7th at AmericasMart.    Wayne Lord, who in addition to heading up the World Affairs Council of Atlanta, is also a professor of International Executive Education at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, joined Dana and Elizabeth for a discussion of the headlines and to talk about the US-Russia Business Council 20th Annual Meeting which was just held in Atlanta.

CAP Members Pencil Factory Lofts and The Drafting Table Join Hosts Elizabeth Gordon and Dana Barrett

Hosts Dana Barrett and Elizabeth Gordon are joined in the studio by Dan Williams from Central Atlanta Progress along with CAP members Matt Futral, the Asset Manager for Perennial Properties who owns the Pencil Factory Lofts in Downtown and Doug Caylor who has just opened The Drafting Table, a new restaurant at the Pencil Factory Lofts.

After their usual run down of the Atlanta business news headlines, Elizabeth and Dana talked with Matt about the lifestyle and amenities  at Pencil Factory Lofts while Doug talked about his decision to open his new restaurant, The Drafting Table there.  He also enticed the easily entice-able hosts with some yummy descriptions of the unique menu – including the 50%/50% bacon and sirloin burger. Yum!
